WORK PLACEMENTS

Work-based learning opportunities coordinated by the Goldfields LLEN include:

  • Work Experience

  • Structured Workplace Learning

  • School Community Work Placement

  • School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships

The program also arranges workplace visits, industry tours and career events.

HOW IT WORKS

Explore the School to Work Portal or contact our team to help your student find a placement in their industry of interest.

Apply for a Placement

If you find a placement on the Portal, select ‘Share With Your Teacher’ (for students) or ‘Use Opportunity’ (for teachers).

Confirm a Placement

Once your placement has been confirmed, we will contact you and the business, then send the relevant paperwork for sign off.

TYPES OF WORK PLACEMENTS

Work Experience (WE)

Work Experience is often the first step for students into industry, helping them to gain valuable experience and knowledge in their chosen industry. This can then lead to further, more comprehensive placements that will broaden their professional knowledge.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

SWL is designed for students undertaking the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), VCE Vocational Major or a Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). These opportunities offer practical on-the-job training where students develop their work skills and understand employer expectations.

SCW provides benefits for both students and communities. These opportunities are voluntary, and students do not receive renumeration or reward, however they are able to connect to and better understand their community.

School Community Work (SCW)

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs)

SBATs support students in years 10 to 12 to develop skills, capabilities and confidence that employers in growth industries need. Students receive paid on the job training that contributes to their VCE, VCE Vocational Major or VPC and leads to a qualification.
